Dear Alumni and Future Alumni,
High school is no doubt the time of our lives when we
can dabble in different sports, groups, and activities.
The usual mentality, " I got the rest of my life to
work so now's the time to play, have fun, and explore."
Los Altos Solar Vehicle Program and the Engineering
Academy offered me more than just a line on my college
application. My years with my team were no doubt filled
with late nights of brainstorming, writing, and building.
Team work is essential, sleepless nights common, but
in the end the benefits were overwhelming.
I learned how to engage people. After all, as a teenager
talking to big suits, it's a bit intimidating. As a
team, I learned how to take our ideas and mesh them
into something we were all proud about; something physical
and beyond just papers. Most importantly, I learned
about me, my strengths, weaknesses, and my passions.
It's been years since I was part of BYDV, but my experience
can be seen still now, as I work as a journalist.
My advice to you, try it out. There's something for
everyone and like my fellow alumni, our different career
paths prove it. Whether you're interested in engineering,
business, or the arts, you can benefit from LAAE.
Good Luck and have fun!
Yours Truly,
Michelle Liu
